Styles of arguments

Deductive (Guaranteed)

All or nothing either logical quality is perfect (100%) or it fails (sucks)

Ex: All dogs have four legs, John's pet is a dog, therefore John's pet has four legs.


Inductive (Likely)

An attempt at being right either logically strong (convincing) or weak (not convincing)

Ex: All the tigers I saw on my safari trip to South Africa were orange. Conclusion: Therefore, all tigers are orange.

Definitions

Cogent

Cogent means an inductive argument with strong logical quality and acceptable premises. It is subjective to the person.


Argument

An argument is a set of premises to leads to a conclusion.
